City Council Passes Community Center Study

On February 12, 2019 the City Council passed the Planning and Conceptual Design Funds for the DuPont Community Center.

Funds will provide consultant services to host public meetings, collect community input, develop multiple conceptual designs, develop space allocation, and complete a cost estimate to build a new Community Center.

The existing lot adjacent to City Hall has been identified for future development of a Community Center. This potential new Community Center would have space for multiple meetings, social activities, athletics, and recreation. The City is also looking at pursuing different partnerships.

“We’re excited to start this process of a new Community Center. We continue to expand our recreational activities and look forward to the public process of discussing the possibilities of building a Community Center. I encourage everyone to stay engaged and be part of the process” said Mayor Mike Courts.

If approved by Council, a bond measure for a new Community Center could come to a public vote as early as Spring 2020.
