City Council Special Meeting Notice

The DuPont City Council has scheduled a Special Meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 6:30 pm, at DuPont City Hall Council Chambers, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327, to hold two separate public hearings regarding the map amendments/rezone of both the Industrial and Manufacturing Research Park to “Community Business” designation and the “Old Fort Lake” subarea from Business Technology Park and Open Space “Mixed Use Village” 9 subareas and its respective Ordinance Readings; and to discuss and/or approve Ordinances for the Business and Occupational Taxes model ordinance update, Stormwater and Water Utility Rates updates, and the 2019-2020 Biennium Budget.

Rezone of "Community Business" Designation

Following the regularly scheduled City of DuPont Council Workshop, the City Council will hold a public hearing at its Special Meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, on or after 6:30 pm, at DuPont City Hall Council Chambers, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327 on a rezone of approximately 77 which is split zoned Industrial, north of Center Drive; and Manufacturing Research Park south of Center Drive to new zoning designation “Community Business” which was adopted by City Ordinance No. 18-1031 to implement the Comprehensive Plan Sub-Area Plan adopted by City Ordinance No. 17-1029 (PLNG2018-036 & -037).

All persons are invited to attend the hearing and provide written or oral testimony regarding the rezone proposal or submit written comments prior to the public hearing to the City Clerk’s Office, or by email to . On or before November 15, 2018, a copy of the rezone proposal is available for review on the city’s website (see link) or available for inspection at DuPont City Hall.

   
Rezone of "Old Fort Lake" sub-area

Following the regularly scheduled City of DuPont Council Workshop, the City Council will hold a public hearing at its Special Meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, on or after 6:30 pm, at DuPont City Hall Council Chambers, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327 on a rezone of approximately 566 acres in the “Old Fort Lake” sub-area (includes “The Home Course” golf course and the surrounding undeveloped lands) which is split zoned Business Technology Park and Open Space to “Mixed Use Village” with 9 subareas, a new zoning designation adopted by City Ordinance No. 18-1034 to implement the Comprehensive Plan Sub-Area Plan adopted by City Ordinance No. 17-1029 (PLNG2018-038 & -039).

PLANNING COMMISSION

The City is seeking interested residents for appointments to the City's Planning Commission. Eligible applicants must be residents of the City of DuPont.  Please submit a completed application letter of interest and a copy of your resume to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA. CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION

The purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to implement, administer, and direct a civil service system that is consistent with state laws for sworn personnel of the DuPont Police Department and uniformed personnel of the DuPont Fire Department. The commission provides sworn police and uniformed fire employees with a quasi-judicial process for hearings on appeals concerning disciplinary actions, examination and testing, and other related issues. 

Pursuant to RCW 41.12.030 and RCW 41.08.030, each member must be a resident of the City of DuPont for at least three (3) years immediately preceding City Council appointment and a registered voter in Pierce County. At the time of any appointment, not more than two commissioners shall be adherents of the same political party. The term of office is six (6) years.


LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LTAC)

VACANCY


The City is seeking interested individuals for appointment to the City's Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC). The LTAC was established for the purpose of recommending to the City Council on how to use the City lodging tax revenue for tourism promotion or tourism facility purposes.  By state law, at least two members are representatives of businesses required to collect the tax, two members are persons involved in activities authorized to be funded by the tax, and one member is an elected official of the City.  Please submit a completed application, letter of interest and a copy of your resume to City Hall, Attn: Karri Muir, City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327.  OPEN UNTIL FILLED

PARKS & RECREATION AGENCY

The City is seeking interested residents for appointments to the City's volunteer Parks & Recreation Agency. Eligible applicants must be residents of the City of DuPont for a minimum of one year. Please submit a completed application form and a letter of interest that includes your relevant professional experience, your reasons for desiring to be appointed to this position, and your thoughts on the most significant parks and recreational issues facing the City in both the short and long term, to City Hall, Attn: City Clerk, 1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327. TOURISM BOARD

The Tourism Board will hold a special meeting at 8:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at City Hall Council Chambers,1700 Civic Drive, DuPont, WA 98327 to discuss approved LTAC grants, Part B LTAC, and overall business.



BOARD VACANCY

The City is seeking interested residents for appointment to the City's volunteer Tourism Board. The Tourism Board was established in 2009 for the purpose of marketing and promoting DuPont as a destination for recreation, historical discovery, and business opportunity. Applicants need not be residents of the City. YOUTH COUNCIL VACANCY  
The City is seeking interested high school students in the DuPont community for appointment to the volunteer Youth Council. The Youth Council was created to involve youth in local government, increase volunteerism in civic affairs, increase communication with youth in the community, and involve youth in planning community activities.
