The DuPont City Council adopted Resolution No. 08-338 in February 2008, establishing the Visitor Readiness Task Force for a period not to exceed one year. Its purpose was to review the recommendations of the"Visitor Readiness Report" and to develop and implement a tourism action plan with short and long range objectives which promote DuPont as a tourist destination city.
The DuPont Visitor Readiness Task Force was not restricted as to number of members and created subcommittees and work groups to advance the goal of implementing an effective work plan. The City initially provided for the following representation: Mayor- ex officio, City Council (3), Planning Agency (1), Parks Agency (1), ROA (1), COA (1), Nisqually Tribe (1), DuPont Historical Society (1), DuPont Business Association (4), Lodging Businesses (1).
In July 2008, the City hired a Visitor Information Coordinator to provide support to the Task Force. In February 2009, the Task Force was sunset, and a successor DuPont Tourism Board was created. For additional information on tourism please visit www.visitdupont.com.
