The DuPont Police Department will be hosting another Citizen Police Academy. It will be held the spring of 2011. Students accepted into the academy will meet weekly in the evening hours or on some Saturdays for tours and firearms orientation. The class dates are yet to be determined.
The students will learn about the police department and criminal justice system in both an interactive and hands-on environment. Some topics include law, department growth, drivers training and other topics that would be covered in a police academy. The purpose of the academy is to provide a better understanding of what service police officers can provide and to foster better communications with our citizens.
Those interested must complete an application and submit to a basic background investigation. Applications will be accepted after January 1, 2011, and the classes will begin the first week of April 2011.
